Must:
- Professional experience as a software developer with expertise in the development of web-based applications and TDD - Experience with Scrum or similar agile methods - Intrinsic motivation to write readable and maintainable code - Good knowledge of software development in Ruby on Rails or similar frameworks - Ability to work responsibly and know when to reach out to colleagues - Strong understanding of software architecture, especially in OOP - Experience with Unix systems - Very good knowledge of English in spoken and written forms

Responsibilities

As a senior developer, I am expected to interact with Product Management, Quality Assurance, and the Developer Team to qualify feature requests, improvements, and bugs. I enjoy deeply understanding and analyzing tasks and problems to find sustainable and appropriate solutions. While I will engage in web-development, focusing on readable and proper code, I also understand that solutions must align with desired outcomes. I recognize that bug fixing, although sometimes tedious, is essential for gaining a better understanding of the system. At MICE Portal, my knowledge is valued, and I am encouraged to share it. I participate in discussions about tickets, attend scheduled knowledge-sharing sessions, and engage in one-on-ones with our Head of Development and Product Managers. Being an active contributor aids both my growth and the team’s growth. Additionally, code reviews are a crucial part of our development cycle, allowing me to gain insights and reflect on my work and that of my colleagues. I can expect to have ample time to write code at MICE Portal.

Description

At MICE Portal, our mission is to empower individuals and companies to find the perfect venues for meetings and events. We are building a marketplace that connects users with the spaces they need while serving as a robust procurement solution for companies needing precise technical workflows. We have established a stable and predictable development process over the last 15 years, integrating full-time QA into our pipeline. As a family business, we know that our employees are the heart of our success, which is why we frequently survey them for feedback. Based on this input, we offer benefits such as a company pension plan subsidy, child daycare subsidy, rental job bike, a health bonus of €300 annually, 30 days of vacation (5-day work week), and a GetWell-Pass for sports activities. We also provide individual working models (Remote/Hybrid/Work from home/attractive office workplaces) and flexible schedules. Our internal workshops on various subjects and soft skills are an exciting perk for our team members. MICE Portal has been significantly shaping the digital purchasing of event services since 2006, and our key customers include leading companies from various industries. With about 50 employees working remotely and/or in three office locations (Attenkirchen near Freising, Bonn, and Berlin), we offer customized digital purchasing solutions for the large-scale industry. We strive to enhance efficiency in operational event purchasing while perfecting the match between customer requirements and provider service portfolios, thanks to our dynamic structures, clear processes, and flat hierarchies. As a growing team, we look forward to welcoming new colleagues in this fast-growing industry.
