Anforderungen
Muss:
- Master's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, or other related Engineering disciplines.
- Excellent knowledge of military satellite communication systems (preferably with heritage on SATCOMBw) with over 10 years of experience.
- Profound knowledge of satellite communications engineering, including technical interface, data flow (for user and management data), as well as TM/TC engineering (secure and unsecured) and user traffic.
- Strong knowledge of communication engineering, including RF link budgets and antenna designs.
- Strong experience in software-based systems, networks, and IT infrastructure.
- Profound experience in modern Digital Payload, Ground Station, Spacecraft Control Center, and Payload Control Center engineering.
- Experience in design, development, integration, verification, and operations of Satellite Communication Systems and associated processes and operational procedures.
- Experience in leading a multi-national engineering team.
- Business fluency in English and German (minimum C2 for both).
Verantwortlichkeiten
- Requirements engineering with DOORS in the area of the satellite communication systems, space, and ground segments as well as lower levels.
- Conduct and follow-up conceptual design activities in the area of satellite communications lead systems engineering, including but not limited to requirement, interface, user data, and management data flow within the ground segment, as well as TM/TC interfaces and interfaces to the customer.
- Establish requirements for satellite systems, space, and ground segments and their components, e.g., modern digital payloads, ground stations, mission operation center, spacecraft control center, payload control center, networks including IT infrastructure, as well as data centers.
- Analyze end-to-end communications performance, including user segment over digital and transparent payloads.
- Lead the elaboration of system trade-offs in the area of satellite communication systems and be in charge of the overall system architecture definition.
- Lead the elaboration of verification and validation concepts at the overall systems level and support relevant tests.
- Collaborate on developing the operations concept and prepare operational requirements for the space and ground segment together with dedicated systems engineers.
- Provide technical support to the project managers on planning, contractual changes, and risk & opportunities identification.

For Airbus Defence & Space in Taufkirchen, we are searching for a Systems Engineer - Military Satellite Communication Systems (d/f/m). Our department develops satellite communication systems for civil and military customers and serves as the overall engineering authority for SATCOMBw. In this role, you will focus on the concept, design, development, and technical requirements of system upgrades and modifications to the SATCOMBw Satellite Communication System and its related program upgrades for the German armed forces. You will collaborate closely with Chief Engineers and Lead Systems Engineers of the major system upgrades pertaining to the space segment and the ground and user infrastructures. Your responsibilities will include overseeing system performance and supervising the acceptance of significant system upgrades to meet our overall requirements.
