Requirements
Must:
We are looking for candidates with completed university studies in physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or economics. You should have experience in short-term energy trading and possess excellent knowledge about power markets and regulations in EU countries. A solid understanding of power markets and the ability to build new business is essential. We value a proactive entrepreneurial attitude, strong results orientation with a commercial mindset, a Can-Do mentality, and the ability to work independently and under time pressure. Being a team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills is important, as are excellent language skills in English (written and spoken); proficiency in German is a plus.
Responsibilities
As an Expert for Short Term Trading, you will be responsible for developing structures and supporting the build-up of a team for manual and/or automated intraday trading. You will trade in day-ahead and intraday markets to manage our renewables portfolio, BASF-owned CHP power plants, and site demand. Your role will involve developing optimization strategies for renewable power production from our own assets based on continuous analysis of multiple market and weather data sources to derive trading decisions and strategies that maximize our P&L. Furthermore, you will challenge existing solutions and processes, ensure and develop operations management within the business management team, including market access and balancing models. Additionally, you will integrate BASF-owned CHP power plants, renewable projects, and PPA contracts into the BASF Renewable Energy business model.
