Requirements

Must:
- Master degree in computer science or a similar field. - At least 5 years of practical experience with agent-based simulation, traffic and network modeling, and simulation frameworks (e.g., Matsim, DLR Sumo). - Solid experience in defining software architecture and selecting technology stacks, frameworks, and tools to meet both functional and non-functional requirements (like scalability, security, performance, and maintainability). - Very good knowledge of Java or Python; additional experience with C# (.net), Go, or Elixir is a plus. - Experience with SQL, Docker, Git, Shell scripting, and Jupyter notebooks. - Experience with high performance 2D/3D front-end visualization frameworks (such as vis.gl or others) is a plus. - Good knowledge of Postgis (spatial database), GIS (geographic information systems), and interest in mapping technologies. - A genuine interest in developing technology for good that can improve access to essential medical services to many people around the world. - Fast learner, ability to analyze complex problems, devise effective solutions, and willingness to tackle big challenges. - Ability to balance customer requirements and expectations with technical feasibility and budget constraints. - Strong team player who is willing to work in a very diverse and international environment with occasional travel. - Well-organized, able to work autonomously and with a start-up mindset. - Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; German is a plus.

Responsibilities

- Lead the development of our comprehensive simulation technology for LifeSaver, a strategic initiative aimed at empowering governments worldwide to enhance their emergency response systems (ground and air). - Collaborate with an external software development company to kickstart our simulation solution and help establish a robust technical infrastructure for a dedicated internal development team. - Build a first-class simulation environment for an upcoming digital twin of complex and multi-modal (air and ground) operations of emergency response systems at the scale of a whole country or region. This includes setting up the technical infrastructure, selecting suitable frameworks, prototyping, and seamlessly integrating with LifeSaver's overall solution architecture. - Develop agent-based simulations for a broad range of scenarios, such as optimizing the use of (future) aircraft in various environments or creating effective disaster relief strategies following natural disasters. - Work closely with external stakeholders, including emergency response professionals, to develop a solid understanding of real-world emergency medical operations and inform the creation of accurate simulations. - Coordinate an external software development team based in Europe in close collaboration with the LifeSaver product manager and the external team lead. - Potentially coordinate remote software development teams and technical subject matter experts at other Airbus locations worldwide. - Contribute to R&D and innovation programs.
